  61. The WizArt Window and Its Controls:
  62.  
  63. Formats                             List Box top Right Corner
  64. Double clicking on a new format changes 13 settings, as well as
  65. pen and fill colors. You will  in a totally new arena producing
  66. new results. All settings can be further modified to your
  67. creative desires.  To remove Format toolbox from screen click X
  68. at Formats  or View/ Design Formats to remove or restore.

  71. Draw Button
  72. Performs the drawing sequence. The Gear carries the Pen Hole
  73. through one revolution around the Template drawing lines or
  74. shapes as it travels. Interrupt Draw by hitting ESCAPE.
  75.  
  76. Template Outline
  77. Is the largest reference outline on your screen.  Template is
  78. the  track which guides your Gear  and pen Hole around the
  79. screen.

  81. Template Button    activating    Control Scroll Bar
  82. Allows you to adjust the Template size.  After selecting
  83. template, the current radius of the template is displayed in the
  84. Value Box. The word TEMPLATE will appear in the Active Box. Use
  85. the Control Scroll Bar to adjust the template size.

  87. Template Shifting
  88. The Template can be shifted in three ways.
  89. 1. Quick large adjustments. Click the mouse near the center of
  90. the template and drag it to a new site.
  91. 2. Small precise adjustments. Click on Template then Press
  92. <SHIFT> & <ARROW>. Shifts template 1/16" arrow directions
  93. 3. Center the template from the Menu OPTION. Click to center
  94. vertically and/or horizontally. Gear and penhole also shift.

  96. Gear Outline
  97. Inside circular outline travels around the larger Template. You
  98. see only the resulting line or pattern produced.  Outlines are
  99. not a part of your design.
  100.  
  101. Gear Button        activating    Control Scroll Bar
  102. Allows Control Scroll Bar to adjust gear size. Upon clicking
  103. Gear, current radius displays in the Value Box. "Gear" appears
  104. in the Active Box.
  105.  
  106. Shifting Gear Position
  107. You may shift the position of the gear 5 degrees by:
  108. 1. Click on Gear Button
  109. 2. Pressing <Shift> & <Arrow>.
  110.  
  111. Hole Outline
  112. The smallest outline (within the Gear).  The pen-Hole holds your
  113. pen during draw cycle. It remains visible on your screen like
  114. the template and gear for reference but is not a part of the
  115. design.
  116.  
  117. Hole Button        activating    Control Scroll Bar
  118. Enables the Control Scroll Bar to move the pen Hole towards or
  119. away from the center of the gear. The current setting  is
  120. displayed in the Value Box. "Hole" appears in the Active Box.

  122. Curve Button        activating    Control Scroll Bar
  123. Permits placing 4 to 360 angles and line draw operations in one
  124. cycle. High numbers may cause line to appear as a smooth curve.
  125. Shape quantities drawn per cycle are determined by curve button.
  126. Value Box gives quantity of Shapes or angles set by the Control
  127. Scroll Bar
  128.  
  129. Turn Button        activating    Control Scroll Bar
  130. The Turn button causes the Gear to slip as it rotates like a car
  131. spinning it's wheels. Very high values often produces 'string
  132. art'. The current Turn rate displays in the Value Box. The word
  133. Turn will appear in the Active Box. Use the Control Scroll Bar
  134. to adjust.
  135.  
  136. Pen Button
  137. Choose from 12 colors.  The current pen color's box is marked
  138. and displays low right in "Line Status Box". When draw is
  139. clicked the Pen Color selected will be used.
  140. When Shape and Pen are selected, a Square Cursor  appears in
  141. the painting.  Clicking  the cursor while it is Square will
  142. place the current shape at the cursor location in your design.

  144. Fill Button        option to    Control Scroll Bar
  145. Choose from 12 colors and over 200 shades.  Click on Fill.
  146. Select a fill color.  Current fill color displays lower right in
  147. Line Status Box. Obtain various shades, click on the Control
  148. Scroll Bar. Up will darken and down will lighten the fill colors.
  149. When filling with shaded colors, later fills may not fill on top
  150. of a shaded color.  If Fill is Active the cursor will appear as a
  151. large upright arrow.

  153. Clip Button
  154. Lets you use the mouse to select area for copying or cutting.
  155. 1. Select Clip button.
  156. 2. Select area; keep the mouse's left
  157. button pressed as you drag the rectangular select area.
  158. 3. Release left button.
  159. 4. Go to  menu EDIT/ functions COPY, CUT and Paste are enabled.
  160. CUT removes the selected region, and places it in the clipboard.
  161. COPY retains area in drawing and copies  selected region to the
  162. clipboard.

  166. Ref Button
  167. REFresh Button allows you to refresh or repaint the screen.
  168. Use if the screen gets corrupted due to extraneous events.

  170. Control Scroll Bar
  171. First a button selection must be made. The Control Scroll Bar
  172. will change the value of the selection shown in the Active Box.
  173. Note:
  174. 1. Minimum value possible is displays on top of bar.
  175. 2. Maximum value is displays below.
  176. 3. Current setting  displays in the Value Box.
  177. Click arrows or slide the bar to make adjustments. You will see
  178. screen outline change with  Template, Gear & Hole.

  180. Active Box
  181. Displays button and function name that will be is actively
  182. controled by the scroll bar. It is located immediately below the
  183. Curve and Turn Buttons.
  184.  
  185. Value Box
  186. Value Box displays the current setting (size, quantity etc) of
  187. selected item shown in the Active Box. The control scroll bar
  188. will change the value of a selection and the reading in the
  189. value box.

  191. Scroll Bars
  192. Horizontal is on bottom and Vertical is on right edge of the
  193. screen. Necessary only with large designs.  See also Option/
  194. Image Size

  196. Line Selection Box
  197. Bottom right of your screen shows current LINE menu selections.
  198. Left to right  STYLE, WIDTH, SHAPE, SIZE, and SPIN. PEN color,
  199. and FILL color.

  201. Color Options
  202. Choose from 12 Pen colors and 250  Fill colors. Select a color
  203. after clicking Pen Button or Fill Button.

  207. TOP MENU
  208.  
  209. File/New            Top Menu
  210. Clears drawing area to allows a new drawing session.
  211.  
  212. File/Open            Top Menu        
  213. View or work on a previously saved WizArt. Enter the name or
  214. select one from  displayed file list.
  215.  
  216. File/Save            Top Menu
  217. Saves the displayed WizArt design to the current file name. An
  218. untitled design will prompt you for a file name. See also
  219. File/Save/Bitmap

  221. File/Save As            Top Menu
  222. Lets you select a file name for your current drawing. See also
  223.  
  224.  
  225. Background bit maps:
  226. If you open a .bmp file from File/Open, its image becomes your
  227. working background.  This becomes a permanent part of your
  228. drawing and can be saved with your drawing, it will not become
  229. part of your WizArt .wiz file.

  232. File/Print
  233. Print your drawing through a print dialogue screen and:
  234. 1. Scale your drawing from 25% to 150% of its original size.
  235. 2. To have designs left and top edges align with the paper
  236. edges, check the align edges check box.  When you align edges
  237. you may loose part of your design due to built in margins
  238. associated with your printer.  (when printing borders).
  239. Select OK when you wish to print. WizArt 1.0 does NOT have a
  240. Cancel print dialogue.

  242. File/Exit
  243. Ends your WizArt program returns to Windows.
  244.  
  245. Edit/Undo            Top Menu
  246. Return your drawing to the last significant change.  If an
  247. unwanted result occurs to your drawing.  Cancel by clicking Undo.
  248.  
  249. Edit/Cut            Top Menu
  250. Let's you  Cut the selected drawing area away. The cut region
  251. will be stored in the clipboard.  The region cut is erased and
  252. filled with the background color. To select a region, use the
  253. Clip Button.
  254. The .wiz play back file will not record cut operations.  To save
  255. these edits, check "Save Bit Map" box.

  257. Edit/Copy
  258. Let's you  Copy a selected area to the clipboard. To select
  259. area, use the Clip Button.
  260.  
  261. Edit/Paste
  262. Places current bit map clipboard image in the top left hand
  263. corner of your page and may now be dragged using your mouse.
  264. When at its desired location, click on any part of the screen
  265. and it becomes permanent for bitmap purposes. Pasted images do
  266. not playback.

  268. View/Design Formats
  269. Recall or clear Format box from top right of draw area.

  271. View/Zoom Out-In
  272. Allows you to see entire larger drawings or focus in.

  274. Line/Style            Top Menu
  275. 'Line/Style' contains: Solid, Dashed, Dotted, and Ribbon Lines.
  276. Selections not enabled appear gray.
  277.  
  278. SOLID will show as a solid line in the current pen color.DASH
  279. will appear as a series of dashesDOT will appear as a series of
  280. dots
  281.  
  282. RIBBON can give a calligraphy style to your drawing. Pen will
  283. determine the outline and the Fill Color will determine the
  284. interior.
  285.  
  286. Line/Width            Top Menu
  287. Contains: Thin, Medium, and Thick.
  288. THIN is the default setting and will be a single pixel width.
  289. MEDIUM will be a double pixel width. THICK will be triple..
  290. Medium and Thick Lines are not enabled for DOT or DASH.

  292. Shape/Object            Top Menu
  293. The 'Shape/Object' menu selection contains:
  294. POINT, LINE, CIRCLE, TRIANGLE, SQUARE, PENTAGON and CUSTOM.

  296. Shape/Object POINT
  297. Will draw a single point at every curve location during each
  298. draw session or revolution. The Curve Button determines the
  299. number of points or curve locations in your drawing.
  300.  
  301. LINE
  302. The Shape/Object LINE Selection will draw a straight
  303. lines between each curve location during each DRAW command .
  304. The Curve Button determines the number of sides.
  305.  
  306. CIRCLE,TRIANGLE, SQUARE, PENTAGON
  307. Selection draws the indicated shape at each curve location
  308. during each draw cycle.  The Curve Button determines the number
  309. of shapes drawn.  You may then choose Shape Size and Shape Spin.
  310.  
  311. Shape/Object CUSTOM
  312. Leads you to a file selection. Choose, and the entry becomes
  313. your active shape and is added to 'Line/Shape' Menu. DRAW
  314. produces choice at each curve location. Curve Button determines
  315. quantity.
  316.  
  317. Shape SIZE
  318. Lets you  choose how large a shape to draw. Disabled, if your
  319. current shape is Point or Line.
  320.  
  321. Shape SPIN
  322. Lets you choose how many complete rotations (spins) a shape
  323. makes in one draw cycle. You can spin Triangle Square, Pentagon
  324. and Custom Shape; SPIN is disabled for Point, Line and Circle.
  325. Note: Spinning a Custom Shape will tend NOT to preserve the
  326. original appearance of customized shapes. Ellipses and
  327. Rectangles can change dramatically as they spin.

  329. Wiz Tools/DESIGN RUN
  330. Plays back your created WizArtor from Open menu in the same
  331. order as created. A WizArt design shifts location each run. Fun,
  332. interesting and useful to view  your design like a Screen Saver.
  333.  
  334. Options/Gear Rotation
  335. By default, the gear rotates in a counter clockwise motion.
  336. Referred to as 'Forward'. This tends to produce images with
  337. loops on their exterior. Reverse, a clockwise rotation, tends to
  338. produce loops on the interior.
  339.  
  340. Option Image Size
  341. The 'Options/Image Size' Selection will bring you to a dialogue.
  342. You will be able to select the width and height of your image.
  343. The default size is five by six inches.  The maximum size is
  344. 8.5" by 11". Large images require significant resources when
  345. printing.

  347. Help About
  348. Displays  WizArt Graphics and Copyright information.

  350. Help/Contest                     Top Menu
  351. This Selection Displays a brief message about WizArt Contests.
  352. Win a Quarter Million Quarters and enter WizArt Quarterly
  353. Contests.  More information is available on the Registration.

  355. Help/Using WizSaver              Top Menu
  356. Displays a brief message about how to activate WizSaver.
  357.  
  358. Help/Print Contest Form          Top Menu
  359. Allows you to enter address. Then prints out brief contest
  360. information with Quarter Million Contest entry form.  Send
  361. entry with Design Contest too!

  363. Help/Registration                Top Menu
  364. This Selection brings you to a dialog box.  You may order
  365. Wizart via Author, via Credit Card, or via Compuserve.  If
  366. you wish to order via author select Print Order Form.
  367. This Selection Prints out the Registration Form and Quarter
  368. Million Quarters entry form.  It also contains a brief
  369. description of contests and other Achieve Products available.
